In Andrew Marantz’s article,”Tupac’s Creepy Hologram” from The New Yorker Magazine, Marantz educates his readers about the legendary rapper Tupac’s Shakur who was murdered in Las Vegas California in 1966. Marantz specifies that, “Some conspiracy theorists remain in the first D.A.B.D.A. stage, insisting that Tupac Faked his own death,” however, most people believe this to be “silly” or “uncalled for.” I once watched a documentary on the amazing Tupac’s Shakur and a hood friend of Shakurs, actually more like a second mother, said herself that tupac would never be able to fake a death because he wouldn’t be able to stay quiet long enough, and I agree with this. Tupac was an amazing artist that always stuck up for what he believed in and didn’t really care what anyone else had to say about him and his actions. People also believe that Shakur faked his death because of his sexual assault case in 1995, (there is also another article that speaks more about this topic in The New York Times Paper by George James.) because Shakur was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison people say it ruined his carrer and lifestyle, but Shakur believed different. In this documentary Shakur says he doesn’t see it as a regret or that he doesn’t see it as anyones fault. He just feels as if he was at fault for doing such a thing with a women whom he believed was trustable . Since Shakur’s death, he has sold twice as many albums then he did when he was still breathing on this earth. Also, because Tupac became “legendary” the organizers of the Cochella Music Festival in Indio decided to make what Marantz calls a “Creepy Hologram” of Mr. Shakur. Tupac fanatics were amazed by this invention as they were able to watch Shakur perform with one of his close friends Snoop Dog. This show was legendary, the very detailed image of Shakur had his fans screaming in disbelief. Every move, sound, detail was perfectly on point brining back Shakur as if he had never left. Marantz believes this hologram to be “creepy” however he doesn’t specify on how he actually means “creepy” to be defined. It was not creepy for Tupac to be there; however it was creepy how detailed his image was, how someone who was deceased could yet look so alive and fresh as if he hadn’t gone anywhere. Cochella organizers did an amazing job with this hologram and will be making more money then ever for all of Shakur’s fanatics who can’t resist seeing him back on stage.
