Now, after having read John Donne’s “Death Be Not Proud” you have a sense of what an apostrophe looks and sounds like. Donne personified the idea of death and then makes a statement commanding death not to be so prideful about its accomplishments. Describe Donne’s tone or attitude toward death and then think about what may or may not have caused Donne to have such an attitude. Think first, then write a short paragraph describing what you think may have led Donne toward this poem.
