The year is really winding down and things are going extremely well in class. Everyone, well almost everyone, presented their projects. Some kids did a great job! I think we all learned a lot about places we’ve never been. The students got a big kick out of having the conversations. We all got to see how different students organize their ideas visually, which is one of the challenges of teaching students who have English as a second language. It was a challenge to help to meet everyone’s needs, but I think it was completely worth it. I will think of some new way to organize it next year.
Time management nd organizing are wo of the mainstays of teaching. It is clear that there must be a constant effort to keep up with things and whenever time allows for planning time it is a good idea to get busy!
computer gliches caused major problem today. I had the projector to show Raisin in the Sun and the last block of the day it decides to be difficult. Thank god my kids are a little considerate. I asked for patience and finally figured it out. I had to drag the picture over.
We had a great time at the shoreline. So glad almost all the kids came and engaged in the activity. When we finished they were able to see the good they had done. We painted, mulched, and swept. The boys played football, some girls played cards and we stood together as a strong group of Tennyson Lancers. I feel good for them and I hope they were proud of all they accomplished. All the students actually earned a few community service hours. Wonderful day.
It’s interesting how we so want to go on this field trip (at least I do anyway) and the closer it gets to “game time” the more I am working to make it perfect for the kids. I love to get kids off of campus and am one of those teachers (currently) who believes that real world experiences. I love to have fun with kids outside of school and only hope that they can relax and have a good time while learning about the conservation.
How do we plan under the weight of the end of the year clamping and tying up of loose ends. Tomorrow we have an observation scheduled with two different people. I decided not to make any special alterations to the lesson planned at the time of the obsevation–specifically aimed at me being comfortable in my naked teaching. We are supposed to work on our projects and do some close reading that’s what we are going to do. Also need to plan for the field trip on Friday. Lots to do. Gotta keep going.
Today’s brand new. How does the cliche’ go? The first day of the rest of my life. That is such a lie. Who cares…This is really the first of many Saturdays that will be needed to finish my work for this term, including my online work and work towards completeing my portfolio. The porfolio is for the most part constructed, I just haven’t sat down to enter all the lessons that will satisfy the requirements. I guess I’ll spend some time this morning catching up on school work. That strike screwed me up like wow! Ten days out on the line w/o computer access and w/o the ability to do work sucks; that was totally bad timing…thanks Higher Power. Now, all I have to do is have some faith that it will work out and I will finish this stupid program as well as finishing out the year with my integrity in tact.
